Sicily's rich culture and folklore is explored through the story Giuseppe Pitrè, the father of Italian folklore studies and founder of the Sicilian Ethnographic Museum in Palermo, named in his honor. Trained as a physician, Pitrè is remembered for his 25-volume work, Biblioteca delle tradizioni popolari siciliane [Library of Folk Sicilian Traditions], in which he compiled folktales, stories, and accounts that he heard and memorialized. This documentary follows Nico Bonomolo — an artist who was deeply impressed by a visit in his childhood to the Pitrè Museum — as he meets a storyteller, a marionette artist, and even a caster of love spells.
