The Yabla Chinese course is helping me achieve my goalsas a student. The videos are extremely helpful. Paired with thecourse taken in class it speeds up the process of learning. Use the vocabulary almost everyday. It shows where to pronounce the tones. While not even a member was able to use the pinyin chart. This is priceless for people that can't afford it otherwise. Who can not pay$10 a month for such a wonderful abundance of information. Have looked for other online courses and Yabla Chinese is number 1. Not only that but they have other languages you could learn. I recommend it to may friends, and would not do that if there was not a strong beliefin their program. Thank You Yabla!

It has been a very productive learning experience

I have been studying Spanish for many years and this is the most helpful on line site I have found.Why? Because you hear many different accents. there are numerous subjects and each clip is only 3 or 4 minutes long. Thus, one is not glued to the computer for hours on end.

I am using Yabla Italian, and really love it. I really appreciate that Yabla starts at the beginner/intermediate level and goes up to more advanced levels. There's an enormous variety of video clips, some of which are from TV shows (broken into segments) and music videos, and some of which are their own productions. The Yabla actors are fun, articulate and engaging. Sometimes they dress in costumes to present the plot summaries of famous Italian operas. Hilarious! Yabla makes improving my Italian listening comprehension a real joy. And the ability to slow the speed, pause, and look up words makes it possible for me to stretch myself to review content that's above my current skill level. At less than $10 a month, it's a real bargain.

I very much like the blend of listening and speaking. The loop and slow controls help to get started and deal with difficult sounds and concepts. The game function helps in training the ear to hear and understand the words spoken. I look forward to see my progress.

What I find most helpful are the subtitles in French and English that appear below as the monologue or dialogue is unfolding. There is even the option of slowing down the sound to facilitate oral comprehension.

I have tried to watch videos in other languages in hopes of improving my skills, but it was not possible to be efficient. I would watch a little then pause, try to translate, watch it again, translate...etc. With Yabla, they do all the work for me and make it easy to pick up new words and phrases. You can easily rewind the video at each phrase, repeating that phrase with a click of a button... As many times as you want! And when you tap on a word in the captions below, not only does it tell you the definition, but it saves the word to your own personalized flash cards that you can review after you finish the video. As far as improvements, I would like to see more lessons which are geared to teach beginners the basics, like a basic grammar series with various videos in the course so I know I am covering all the bases. Right now, the videos for the beginners seems like there is no organization to it. I just have to search pretty hard to find what I'm looking for, but everything I come across is helpful. I am in love with the Karla and Isabel Spanish videos, so I pray you make more with those wonderful girls! They speak so clearly and are very comforting to watch. Perhaps you can continue with a Basic Spanish Series with Karla and Isabel. You are off to a great start with their videos. Overall, I love this product and it is helping learn spanish so much faster. What a blessing. Thank you!

I have spent a lot of time in France, but still have mediocre French language skills. My comprehension of French is better than my ability to speak, but still not perfect. I often catch only words or phrases, and fill the gaps with what I think would make sense. Part of the reason for this is because of a difference in syllabic stress. Yabla allows me to hear native speakers who are speaking conversationally; and I can listen over and over till the cadence of the language imprints itself. That is, Yabla allows me to hear words and intonation, and this helps me immerse myself in the language - it is not just words on a page. I still read French; I do verb drills and memorize vocabulary, but adding Yabla to my self-study routine has introduced an element of realism which makes the language come alive. Yabla has filled a gap left by all of the other programs I have tried. The cherry on top is that it is fun, so I never look for excuses to avoid dropping in.

As said above, I'm actively learning Spanish and this is the best supplement that I've found to listen, read, translate, re-read, re-listen. That's the way my brain likes to learn! Now I don't have to copy and translate the lyrics. And the best part is that each sentence can be 'looped' so that I can keep listening, reading, translation until I have it. Then I move onto the next line. Finally, I listen the the whole song, or interview, or novella! It's great! (And no, I'm not being paid to give this review) :)

Yabla is a fun way to learn a new language because you are basically watching TV that is in the foreign and native language at the same time. The most helpful part of the service is that you can slow the video down (without it being distorted), and you can instantly look up words through an integrated dictionary. I highly recommend Yabla! There is nothing out there like it!
