Les zones les plus affectées sont celles qui manquent de moyens efficaces pour lutter contre cette maladie, comme l’Ukraine, l’Ouzbékistan, et beaucoup de régions d’Afrique. Selon l’OMS, cinq milliards de dollars seraient nécessaires pour combattre effectivement cette maladie.
