After winning a TV talent show, Alison thought that it would open the door to fame and success as a singer. Unfortunately, her notoriety was shortlived, and she hasn't been able to land any contracts.

Alison's dad, Jean-Pierre, has found a manager for his daughter. They are elated and can't believe their luck. They are prepared to do anything to achieve fame. However, Alison's mother, Nadine, is not so sure.

Alison and her father are so delighted at the prospect of working with the famous manager, Steve Holloway, that they're willing to do anything he asks, even pay his outrageous fees. Nadine is alarmed and worried for her daughter.

Nadine doesn't share Jean-Pierre and Alison's enthusiasm regarding Steve Holloway, who hasn't been in touch for weeks. She expresses her doubt about his credibility, when all of a sudden the phone rings....

Alison records her song in Steve's studio—or so she believes. When Steve asks Jean-Pierre to pay the sound engineer, he seems so surprised and upset that Steve decides to pay him out of his own pocket.

When Jean-Pierre and Alison return to the studio, Steve tells them that Rihanna's producer is interested in working on Alison's album and also asks for another very large sum of money. Jean-Pierre gets angry and becomes very skeptical about the whole affair.

Jean-Pierre finally realizes that Steve, Alison's recording manager, is a scammer. However, Alison is still under Steve's spell and throws caution to the wind.

Alison finally realizes that Steve Holloway is a scammer. Though she'll never get her money back, she still has a bright future as a lawyer specializing in artists' rights.
